Marie more seriously injured than doctors first thought
Singer Marie Fredriksson, 44, is more seriously injured than doctors first thought.
The world star is now undergoing a series of examinations at the neurological clinic at Karolinska Hospital.
Last night the family kept vigil at the hospital bedside.
As Expressen revealed yesterday, Marie Fredriksson is being treated for a severe head injury. It was on Wednesday that she had a serious fall at home in her villa in Djursholm outside Stockholm. Her manager Marie Dimberg says:
She has felt very dizzy.
Yesterday morning, her husband Mikael Bolyos, 45, arrived early at the hospital. Throughout the day and until late last night, he stayed awake next to his wife.
Just after 13:00 yesterday afternoon, he temporarily left the ward where Marie is hospitalised. He was tired and quiet. He commented:
You get worried, you have no idea what might happen.
Hit her head on the sink
He told Expressen what happened on Wednesday morning:
We had been out running and took ourselves out very hard and when we got home Marie felt dizzy, much like when you get up very quickly.
She was in the bathroom and fell and hit her head on the sink.
However, Marie was conscious.
We got in the car and went to Karolinska, I was in contact with her all the way in. She was not feeling well and was dizzy.
What do the doctors say?
That they can see on the X-ray that she has hit her head hard in one place.
To be X-rayed
Marie Fredriksson will undergo a series of tests and advanced examinations in the coming days. Doctors have found that she is more seriously injured than they first thought.
They are also trying to find out what caused the dizziness that made Marie fall in the bathroom on Wednesday.
Marie Fredriksson has been given her own room in a ward at the neurological clinic at Karolinska Hospital. Security on the ward was rigorous yesterday.
Very upset
According to Expressen, Marie felt very bad yesterday, with very severe headaches and dizziness.
Despite this, she managed to receive visits from her husband and children Josefin, 9, and Oscar, 5. Her manager Marie Dimberg also visited the hospital. She said:
It’s an incredibly severe concussion, but we don’t yet know what caused the dizziness that made her fall. The tests will show that.
Until we know for sure, and until Marie has decided what she wants to do, I can’t say more.
Yesterday, several of Marie’s closest friends called to see how she was doing. Her sister, Tina Fredriksson:
I spoke to her this morning (read yesterday morning). She is of course very upset.
Her brother Sven-Arne also had contact with Marie yesterday:
She told me that she had a haemorrhage behind one ear.
