Roxette star hospitalised for head injury

Marie Fredriksson is hospitalised for a head injury.

The Roxette star’s accident has shocked her friends and family.

Her manager Marie Dimberg says:

This is quite traumatic for Marie.

It was on Wednesday afternoon that the accident happened.

Marie Fredriksson, 44, had gone for a run at her home in Djursholm outside Stockholm. Marie Fredriksson’s manager Marie Dimberg tells Aftonbladet:

When she got home she felt dizzy.

In the shower, Marie Fredriksson lost her balance. The Roxette star fell very badly. In the fall, she injured her head.

She fell badly and got a severe concussion.

Li Eriksson at Roxette’s record company EMI says:

Marie got a big blow to the head.

Felt very bad

Marie Fredriksson was rushed to Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm. Since Wednesday evening, she has been treated in a private room at the neurosurgery centre, where several of the country’s leading experts are working. Lars Wallstedt, consultant neurosurgeon and the person with ultimate responsibility for Marie Fredriksson says:

I’m not going to say a word about this, and neither are any of my colleagues.

During her first 24 hours at Karolinska, Marie Fredriksson felt very unwell. Even yesterday, she was both dizzy and groggy.

Her husband Mikael Bolyos has always been at her bedside.

Early yesterday morning, Marie Fredriksson’s brother Sven-Arne Fredriksson was informed of the accident. He told Aftonbladet:

I spoke to the family’s nanny, who explained the situation to me.

Later in the day he spoke to his sister.

She told me that she had suffered a haemorrhage behind one ear.

His sister Tina Fredriksson was also in contact with Marie yesterday:

We spoke in the morning and she sounded quite upset.

“We are very worried”

Yesterday, Per Gessle, Marie’s friend and colleague in Roxette, was also informed of the accident.

He and Marie Fredriksson’s relatives, friends and colleagues are worried. Li Eriksson at EMI says:

Of course we are very worried.

Yesterday, at noon, she was in contact with Marie Fredriksson by phone from Karolinska Hospital.

She can neither walk nor stand up.

The manager Marie Dimberg says:

This is quite a traumatic experience for Marie. I think she has never been hospitalised before, except when she gave birth, but she is awake and in good spirits.

According to the reports she has received, Marie Fredriksson could at best leave the hospital today, Saturday.

Neither Marie Fredriksson nor Mikael Bolyos wanted to make a statement last night.
