…well, it will be when Roxette’s new single, “A Thing About You,” hits the airwaves on September 9th. The single is taken from Roxette – “The Ballad Hits,” which is to be released this autumn. As the title reveals, Roxette have collected their big ballads on one album. Songs that people all over the world relate to. Their seductive mix of tongue-in-cheek pop and sweepingly romantic ballads sounds as fresh and effective as when they first stormed the airwaves.

“It Must Have Been Love” is still one of the most played songs in the world today. In the US alone, it has been aired over 3 million times on radio since its release in 1990. From Roxette’s latest two albums, “Have a Nice Day” and “Room Service,” the catalogue has increased, adding ballad hits like “Wish I Could Fly,” “Anyone,” and “Milk and Toast and Honey.

New material!

Roxette have been to the famous Polar Studio in Stockholm to record two brand new tracks, the first single, “A Thing About You,” which is yet another breathtaking ballad to be released October 14th, and “Breathe.” On top of this, the first edition of the album will include an EP with four songs, of which three are previously unreleased i.e. altogether six completely new songs!

Roxette – “The Pop Hits” to follow the “The Ballad Hits” in spring. As part 2 of this release, there will be more new material added to the forthcoming collection Roxette – Pop Hits.

Jonas Åkerlund director of the video

The long-time companion and world-famous video- & film director Jonas Åkerlund is highly involved with everything from artwork, photo shoots, TV-commercial spots to directing the video for “A Thing About You.” He has previously directed no less than 14 videos for Per and Marie. In a world where 15 minutes of fame is quite an accomplishment – 15 years in the limelight sounds almost unreal.

They entered the cosmic consciousness with the song “The Look” in 1989, followed up with the multi-platinum album “Joyride” in 1991, and have been on top of the charts somewhere in the world ever since. The constant flow of hit singles and albums have resulted in staggering record sales (40 million albums and 15 million singles). Their latest album “Room Service” sold 1 million records and on their latest European tour, autumn 2001, they played to 200.000 people.

The album “Roxette – The Ballad Hits” will be released November 4th, 2002.
